It’s been a busy fortnight for our General Secretary the Revd Duncan Dormor. On 23 January 2019 he flew to Barbados for a week with Programme Manager Habib Nader, to the consecration of the new Bishop of Barbados, Bishop Michael Maxwell, attended by 6,000 people in a large Gymansium. The consecration, which was televised nationally (you can watch the service here) was also attended by various Governors, members of the Cabinet, visiting bishops and the former Prime Minister
Whilst in Barbados, Duncan also attended a number of consultations including a meeting with the Standing Committee and House of Bishops of the Province.
Back in London for a mere 24 hours, Duncan then flew to Greece on Thursday 31st January 2019 with Programme Manager Rebecca Boardman where they visited The Apostoli of the Greek Orthodox Church’s Education and Integration Centre for refugees in central Athens and also Medical Interventions’ Shelter for unaccompanied and separated children. Later they were both welcomed to an evening celebration to celebrate our incredible partnerships and solidarity between the Orthodox and Anglican Church over the years.
